<dt><h2>Class Description</h2></dt>
<dd><p>The Director, Academic Development, has the primary responsibility for the long-term growth and development of ACDV 101, which is designed to be a key part of the students' Frist Year Experience and transition into college. </p></dd>
<dt><h2>Minimum Requirements</h2></dt>
<dd><p>Master's degree and three (3) years of experience in post-secondary education required, preferably in a Community College. Experience with curriculum development, faculty professional development, or student success initiatives (e.g., first-year experience, advising, career pathways). Knowledge of best practices in student retention, first-year programs, academic development, and guided pathways. <dt><h2>Class Specific Essential Duties</h2></dt>
<dd><p>1.Demonstrated ability to deliver student-centered solutions within an educational setting.<br>2.Ability to exercise discretion in decision-making based on best practices, technical expertise, and professional judgment.<br>3.Excellent communication and customer service skills.<br>4.Able to establish effective working relationships within and outside of CCBC.<br>5.Strong organizational, time management, and data management skills.<br>6.Ability to work independently and as part of a team to carry out complex assignments.<br>7.Ability to manage course scheduling and staffing, including the recruitment, assignment, and supervision of faculty.<br>8.Ability to design curriculum and implement instructional best practices, including first-year experience and academic development courses.<br>9.Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate faculty and staff, including experience with hiring, mentoring, scheduling, and supporting professional growth.<br>10.Ability to collect, analyze, and apply data to assess program effectiveness, inform improvements, and support student outcomes.<br>11.Proficiency in using educational technology and data systems, such as learning management systems (LMS), customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, early alert systems, and advising tools.<br>12.Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, particularly in addressing student issues, faculty concerns, and program challenges in a professional and collaborative manner.<br>13.Ability to collaborate across the college to provide professional development and instructional resources to support students across their CCBC journey.<br><br><br></p></dd>
<dt><h2>Position Specific Essential Duties</h2></dt>
<dd><p> 1. Lead the Academic Development (ACDV) program, with a focus on managing ACDV 101 as a required first-year experience course aligned with student success, retention, and pathways goals.<br>2. Develop and manage the ACDV 101 course schedule across multiple campuses and modalities, ensuring appropriate section offerings and enrollment distribution.<br>3.Respond to student concerns about the ACDV 101 course, curriculum, requirement, or their ACDV 101 instruction experience.<br>4.Recruit, hire, onboard, and supervise faculty each semester to teach ACDV 101, including conducting observations, providing feedback, and coordinating professional development.<br>5.Coordinate and maintain curriculum and learning outcomes for ACDV 101, including updates aligned with institutional goals such as guided pathways, transfer readiness, and career exploration. <br>6.Design and deliver, in collaboration with CCBC's Institute of Transformative Teaching, Learning and leadership, targeted professional development for ACDV instructors on topics such as teaching effectiveness, and student engagement.<br>7.Teach Academic Development 101 at least once each major semester.<br>8.Collaborate with advising, enrollment, career services, and academic affairs to ensure ACDV 101 content is aligned with advising, career exploration, and educational planning processes, including registration efforts.<br>9.Manage communication and resolve issues related to ACDV 101 faculty, students, and courses, including student complaints, faculty questions, and instructional challenges.<br>10.Monitor and analyze student outcomes data for ACDV 101 and develop action plans for continuous improvement based on data.<br>11.Facilitate the alignment of ACDV 101 with high school partnerships, transfer and career pathways, and Student Development (SDEV) course offerings to support and scaffold successful student academic transitions.<br>12.Collaborate with Enrollment Management to manage course capacities, section adjustments, and faculty workload in response to student demand.<br>13.Promote ACDV 101, ensuring students and advisors understand its purpose and role in student success.<br>14.Serve as a key college representative for ACDV and first-year experience initiatives on committees, task forces, and at public events as needed.<br>15.Work with Student Engagement and Academic and Career Advisement to ensure co-curricular work and the New Student Orientation is aligned with Academic Development and a student's career and transfer goals.</p></dd>
